Does the world seem fuzzy?
The holidays are over, flu season has afflicted a multitude of homes, and the world seems fuzzy. Someone is mad about something all the time. Social media can easily become overwhelming with the rants, the negativity, and the degrading of people. I want others to know I hear them, and that I am listening. But, I can no longer hear through all the shouts and shaking of fists. The world has become fuzzy. Can we take a collective breath, and relax a bit? Please? Pretty please?
For the love of overwhelming noise
If I listened to all the noise this month, I would conclude I am in need of the perfect body, a strong purpose, and if I only follow some “3 point plan to the perfect life,” I would be just fine. Instead of listening to all the noise, I quit. I quit listening to everyone else and all the noise. Yes, I scrolled past the scathing, screaming posts on social media. (Basically, I read posts from approximately five people.) Then, I started to tune in to discover what would work best for me. My greatest inspiration came from a song from The Greatest Showman. The song, “This Is Me,” has become my anthem. This video of Keala Settle coming out from behind the music stand to sing this song has become my visual reminder. It is so easy to stay hidden away, but we do not always belong there. I do not always belong there. When the noise becomes overwhelming, I turn up the volume, and let the song be my reminder.
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
What’s your anthem?
When the world seems crazy, and a bit overwhelming, what is your anthem? What song helps you adjust your perspective, your posture, or your attitude? Friend, I hope you have one. When grief wraps around you, I hope you have a song that restores your joy. If anxiety threatens to knock you over, I want you to have an anthem to strengthen you. When fear creeps in and you begin to doubt everything, turn up the volume, and sing so loudly the fear has no choice but to flee. I hope you have an anthem that inspires you, moves you, stirs you, and wakes you. Turn up the volume, sing at the top of your lungs, and be you, fully, wonderfully, you.
